William Hill AWARDS VERIFICATION

What has been the highlight of 2007 for the company and why?
Definitely the Hatton versus Mayweather fight in December, which was easily the single biggest sports betting event of the year. It was a sensational event, and one of the most memorable we’ve seen in recent years at William Hill.

What has been the worst moment of 2007 for the company and why?
The floods in the UK led to the cancellation of many sporting events and put a real dampener on summer betting.

What has been the biggest win of the year by a punter on your site?
In December, £1.1 million was won on a £3 spin at our casino.

What efforts does the company make to provide good customer service to players on its casino?
We strive to put the customer experience at the forefront of everything we do. Our casino players can enjoy: 24-hour UK based freephone and email support; payments straight back to the account holder’s card; low deposits and stakes on many games; and informative ‘how to play’ guides.

What makes William Hill’s poker site stand out from the competition?
We have a wide range of tournaments and cash games. We also offer unique games such as Head Hunters, Bounty tournaments and instant play. Bound together with great customer service, we focus on ensuring our players have a thrilling poker experience.

Likewise, how does Hill’s sportsbook try to stay ahead in a crowded market?
Customers now, more than ever, demand relevant and entertaining content alongside pure functionality. As well as an increasing range of sub-domains containing stats, previews and form, and the recent launch of our real-time radio service, we’ve added live streaming over the last twelve months, and—amazingly—we’ll be showing more live events than Sky Sports in 2008. The recent Australian Open tennis—on which we streamed and bet live on up to six matches simultaneously—was the biggest event we’ve covered to date, and was extremely well received.

Your skill games are proving popular with players—why do you think this is?
We offer the world’s best software for backgammon, gin rummy and blackjack, leading to a much more fulfilling player experience.

How has William Hill cultivated a solid and dependable online reputation?
To coin a phrase, it takes years to establish a solid reputation and William Hill has been the trusted name in gambling since 1934. We continue to build that reputation online; our customers deal directly with William Hill staff and not through a shared call centre. Importantly, we’ve secured all the licences we need to operate under the new gambling legislation in the UK, giving our customers even more protection.

How many staff does the company employ and where?
Over 13,000 around the world.

What do you have planned for 2008? What sort of year is it going to be?
The online trading environment gets tougher each year, but our traditional customers still appreciate betting with a company that they know and trust, and we’ll have plenty more in the way of innovation to attract the new generation of online player looking for a thrilling gambling experience.
