Sky Poker AWARDS VERIFICATION

Top Innovation In Online Gaming

"Sky Poker launched in February 2007—a relatively late entrant into the competitive poker market. It was a risky project—launching a poker room on the internet and interactive TV together with a live TV channel, all on the same day—and with no players. Since then Sky Poker has grown rapidly, and now has thousands of people playing poker every evening.

Sky Poker’s TV programming appeals to both new and seasoned poker players, offering a good mix of education, analysis and community entertainment. We control and operate our own network, which gives us the flexibility to structure tournaments around our TV programming as well as being able to offer innovative blind structures such as the popular Scary and Velocity speed tournaments.

The Sky Poker team have worked hard to develop a strong community for our players—the Sky Poker Club encompasses a blog, a TV show and a forum—and allows our players to discuss a range of poker-related topics and get their five minutes of fame. We have also hosted two land-based tournaments and plan to run our first land-based boot camp in the next few weeks.

2008 promises to be another strong year of growth for Sky Poker—we’re already guaranteeing over £650,000 every month in tournament prizes and have plans to increase this substantially over the coming months. We expect to launch a new version of our software in Q1 and we’ll see more variations of tournament and cash games featured on TV."

Best Poker Tournaments

"Every night Sky Poker features a live tournament, The Open, live on Sky Channel 846—with some of the UK’s top poker analysts commenting on the action as players take part either online at skypoker.com, or via their Sky remote control on interactive TV. In addition to the live televised tournaments, players can play a variety of tournaments and cash games 24/7 online or through their set top boxes.
