What has been the highlight of 2007 for the company and why?
2007 has been a fantastic year for Jackpotjoy, so many highlights that it’s hard to talk about just one. We’re paying out more money in winnings now than we ever have, over £85m last month. This equates to £1bn paid out in the last year. You can put this into perspective by comparing it to the amount the National Lottery paid out over the same period—£2.5bn. We’re very close to signing our two millionth member too.
In 2006 we introduced Deal Or No Deal to our portfolio of games and continued our acquisition of well-known family gameshow brands in 2007, partnering with Freemantle to produce games based around The Price Is Right Bingo and Strike it Lucky (slot). The Price Is Right Bingo was very exciting in its own right as it was the first and only bingo offering on the market to offer bonus rounds between the bingo games. These are all based on actual Price Is Right games such as: Spin the Wheels and Plinko. The launch of this new bingo game was supported by a highly successful multi-million pound television advertising campaign. We’ve reinvented the way bingo is being played online, which is testament to our innovative teams.
Other highlights included the launch of our Spanish site JuegaTuSuerte.com by our Barcelona-based teams.
What has been the worst moment of 2007 for the company and why?
2007 was a great year, and for a fast-growing business it’s hard to pinpoint any significantly bad moments.
What has been the biggest win of the year by a punter on your site?
£965,728 was won in December—the UK’s biggest progressive slots jackpot winner in the UK to date. We also had a record Bingo Jackpot winner this September—£107,897 on our new 90-ball Full House Bingo product.
What makes Jackpotjoy’s slots more appealing to players than those offered on other sites?
As we produce all of our own software in-house, each slot game we build is unique to us and our partners. Most of our competitors do not build their own games and rely on outsourced software. This means that a lot of our competitors offer the same game and there is very little difference between their offerings.
We design and build our own games right here in the UK. Our games are built with the audience in mind and this helps us create topical and compelling games that we know our members will love.
Having our own design and development teams means that we can exclusively license well-known UK gameshow brands such as Deal Or No Deal and Strike it Lucky and design unique games based on these licences.
Thanks to the large volume of members we have we pay out over £80 million a month in winnings and have jackpots on our slot games that have reached as high as nearly £1m—hence our jackpot sizes are also very attractive for the slot gamer.
How many staff does the company employ and where?
Our business is growing incredibly fast and at present we have just over 150 staff spread across locations ranging from London, the Midlands, northwest England and Barcelona.
What do you have planned for 2008? What sort of year is it going to be?
We are very excited about 2008 and are working on some great initiatives. All I can say is if you truly want to enjoy the best gaming experience—watch this space.
